(Senior) Sustainability Manager (m/f/d)

Position overview and purpose:

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a (Senior) Sustainability Manager (m/f/d) to join our Global Sustainability department. The (Senior) Sustainability Manager (m/f/d) will be responsible for sustainability assessments, initiatives and change management.

We are looking for an experienced sustainability ambassador, comfortable in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and a strong interest in sustainability topics. You will work in a highly motivated, international team that is driven by the ambition to shape the sustainable future of Fresenius Medical Care.

Your assignments:

• You will manage projects for selected global strategic projects and initiatives (incl. project documentation, consolidation of project data, continuous monitoring of project progress as well as communication within the project team and with relevant stakeholders in the company).
• As part of your job, you will work with business units and functional departments on sustainability initiatives. You will proactively provide expert input to projects and support requests and share knowledge through dedicated communication channels. Additionally, you will identify and establish tools to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• You will continuously develop global sustainability assessments to analyze and address sustainability risks, opportunities, and requirements. This also includes the review of our global sustainability standards and targets as well as the definition of roadmaps and processes to achieve our ESG targets.
• Your support will include the monitoring and analyzing of sustainability related developments and trends (legal requirements, regulations, investor requests, for example), benchmarking, development of action plans, audit readiness, trainings and other communication measures.

Your profile:

• You have gained several years of work experience in an international EHS, procurement, strategy or sustainability department, in an international consulting company with a focus on sustainable transformation, sustainability reporting & CSRD, LkSG and supply chain due diligence or similar experience in project management.
• You effortlessly engage others with your excellent interpersonal, intercultural and presentation skills. Good team spirit is important to you.
• You have successfully managed large cross-functional and international projects. A background in change management is beneficial.
• You are self-motivating and enjoy being involved in multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Your understanding of complex organizational dynamics and analytical skills for continuous improvement enable you to effectively integrate a large number of stakeholder perspectives.
• You display a strong process-oriented, structured and conscientious working method.
• You are familiar with common sustainability terminology (ESG and EHS, for example) and sustainability reporting requirements, including standards such as EU CSRD, LkSG & CSDDD, EU Taxonomy, GRI and SASB.
• What you bring also along: ability to prioritize and work independently, affinity for numbers, detailed-oriented approach with a strong focus on results and service.

• Excellent English skills (written and spoken) are mandatory. Knowledge of German is an advantage.

Ihre Aufgaben:

• Sie werden globale Prozesse zur Bewertung von Nachhaltigkeit kontinuierlich weiterentwickeln, um Nachhaltigkeitsrisiken, -chancen und -anforderungen systematisch zu analysieren und anzugehen. Dazu gehören auch die Überprüfung unserer globalen Nachhaltigkeitsstandards und -ziele sowie die Definition von Maßnahmen und Prozessen zur Erreichung unserer Ziele.
• Sie übernehmen die Projektleitung für ausgewählte globale strategische Projekte und Initiativen (inkl. Projektdokumentation, Konsolidierung von Projektdaten, kontinuierliche Überwachung des Projektfortschritts sowie Kommunikation innerhalb des Projektteams und mit relevanten Stakeholdern im Unternehmen).
• Im Rahmen Ihrer Tätigkeit beraten Sie Geschäftsbereiche und Fachabteilungen zu Nachhaltigkeitsinitiativen. Sie liefern proaktiv fachliche Beiträge zu Projekten, unterstützen Anfragen und geben Fachwissen über spezielle Kommunikationskanäle weiter. Darüber hinaus werden Sie Instrumente zur Steigerung von Genauigkeit und Effizienz identifizieren, nutzen und einführen.
• Ihre Unterstützung umfasst die Nachverfolgung und Analyse von Entwicklungen und Trends im Bereich der Nachhaltigkeit (beispielsweise rechtliche Anforderungen, Vorschriften, Anfragen von Investoren), Benchmarking, die Entwicklung von Maßnahmenplänen, die Vorbereitung auf Audits, Schulungen und andere Kommunikationsmaßnahmen.

Ihr Profil:

• Sie haben mehrjährige Berufserfahrung in einer internationalen EHS-, Beschaffungs-, Strategie- oder Nachhaltigkeitsabteilung, in einem internationalen Beratungsunternehmen mit den Schwerpunkten nachhaltige Transformation, Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung & CSRD, LkSG & Supply Chain Due Diligence oder vergleichbare Erfahrungen im Projektmanagement gesammelt.
• Mit Ihren hervorragenden zwischenmenschlichen und interkulturellen Fähigkeiten sowie Ihren Präsentationsfähigkeiten gelingt es Ihnen, andere zu begeistern. Ein guter Teamgeist ist Ihnen wichtig.
• Sie haben erfolgreich große funktionsübergreifende und internationale Projekte geleitet. Ein Hintergrund im Change Management ist von Vorteil.
• Sie sind selbstmotiviert und arbeiten gerne an mehreren Initiativen gleichzeitig mit.
• Ihr Verständnis für die Dynamik komplexer Organisationen und Ihre analytischen Fähigkeiten zur kontinuierlichen Verbesserung ermöglichen es Ihnen, eine Vielzahl von Interessengruppen effektiv zu integrieren.
• Sie verfügen über eine stark prozessorientierte, strukturierte und gewissenhafte Arbeitsweise.
• Sie sind mit der gängigen Nachhaltigkeitsterminologie (z. B. ESG und EHS) und den Anforderungen an die Nachhaltigkeitsberichterstattung vertraut, einschließlich Standards wie EU CSRD, LkSG & CSDDD, EU Taxonomie, GRI und SASB.
