Come and join our new UX Center of Excellence team that is responsible for building web and mobile digital products and services, as well as embedded software on medical devices.  The goal is to help patients live longer, healthier lives, and improve effectiveness and efficiencies of healthcare practitioners.

Fresenius Medical Care is looking for a Lead UI/UX Design System/Visual Designer with solid visual design skills to grow our comprehensive UI toolkit into a centralized design system to ensure consistency, coherence, efficiency and best-in-class user experience. This designer will be driving alignment on variety of visual solutions across multiple agile product teams and projects, oversee design operations and design system assets management.

The ideal candidate is self-directed, a great collaborator and is experienced working with large teams and complex products.

Your tasks:

  • You are equally comfortable executing hands-on design of comprehensive, intuitive components, patterns, guidelines, standards and design documentation while leading others to deliver innovative and usable visual forms and functions.
  • Proactively collaborate with UX designers across multiple products teams and monitoring requests for creation of new components and patterns.
  • Closely work with engineering teams to create technologically feasible design system assets and ensure accuracy of design system components implementation in Fresenius Flow.
  • Warrant that the design system is flexible, scalable, adaptable, and meets business needs across multiple agile product teams.
  • Conduct usability tests of components and patterns.
  • Facilitate design reviews to ensure adoption of design system and provide guidance to cross-functional teams on effective usage and adherence to the design system.
  • Conduct ongoing design audits of product interfaces making sure design standards are followed.
  • Stay current with the latest design system and visual design trends, tools and technologies and look for opportunities to improve and optimize it.
  • Champion design excellence and best of class user experience and advocate for the value of a cohesive design system across the organization.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate adoption of the design system and identify opportunities for enhancements.
  • Build strong, collaborative business partnerships with key stakeholders, and vendors across geographies.

Your profile:

  • Bachelors or Masters in Graphic Design, Human Factors, Interaction, Industrial or Product Design, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of visual design experience.
  • Proven experience as a design system leader that demonstrated successful design system implementation in complex enterprise organization.
  • Relentless pursuer of aesthetic excellence and growth.
  • Strong hands-on proficiency in design tools, including Figma.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.
  • Solid understanding of design principles, usability, and accessibility standards.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on maintaining consistency and high design standards.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering a culture of design excellence, and being open to feedback and collaboration.
